Who is Kariu?

Kariu is a screen name I gave myself back in 2016.

My real name is Calista!

I’m an illustrator and graphic designer from New Jersey and I’ve been creating art since I was 1 years old, but I really became serious about it in 2013. I’ve been selling character art commissions since I was 18 and got my Graphic Design Bachelor of Science degree at Full Sail University in 2024. On paper, I’m a graphic designer, but I’m first and foremost always an illustrator. Illustration is my pride and joy and I draw almost every day, even for fun. I bring my varied skillset from character art commissions and my time at Full Sail University into every one of my design pieces. Outside of my work, I have a strong passion for video games and Japanese culture as well as 90's and early 2000's media. I also absolutely love cats! You'll find my desk littered with pastel colors, cute little trinkets and floral decor. I also have a strong passion for nature photography! Whenever I get the chance, I love taking pictures of flowers, trees and landscapes.
